Unlike many satellite messaging services that function as person-to-machine systems, OneMessage ensures direct person-to-person exchanges. It guarantees that messages are delivered exclusively to their intended recipients, regardless of the number of devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network—whether on land or aboard a vessel. Sent messages are confirmed for delivery, and incoming messages can be downloaded whenever the user connects to their satellite device, ensuring continuous and dependable communication regardless of location.

The system streamlines onboard communication by allowing users to queue messages within the OneMessage application. Once connected via satellite or cellular network, messages can be sent rapidly, reducing costs and bandwidth consumption. The application also automatically retrieves any pending messages during connection, organizing conversations in threaded dialogues similar to standard messaging apps for ease of use.

OneMessage effectively eliminates costly international texting fees associated with satellite phone use. Since Iridium and similar satellite networks are regarded as foreign networks by most cellular carriers, users typically face significant charges—up to US$15 per month or US$0.50 per message, with potential overage fees. With OneMessage, there is no need for users to activate international texting plans on their mobile devices. This approach provides an economical way to maximize satellite phone utility while maintaining familiar, user-friendly interfaces for consistent contact regardless of destination.
